My parents brought my older brother and I as a baby, to one of many prefabs that had been built on what was known as Woodlands Estate, Honicknowle, Plymouth in the very late 1940s. It was a corner plot so had a very large garden, where they grew loads of fruit and veg.
My parents flat was bombed, so after serving in the RAF, must have been delighted to be offered one of these little houses. My father was a wheelwright carpenter my mother a nurse. We lived in Ringmore Way close to Shaldon Crescent. My mother with another started a garden association for this brand new area.
