I can remember visiting a friend of my mother who lived in a prefab on the site of Odstock Hospital (now Salisbury District Hospital) during the early 1950s. A girl in my class at school, Sylvia Hardcastle also lived in the same row.
I can see no reference to these prefabs but there must be people who lived there who can fill in the details .
In my working life I visited Odstock many times but the prefabs were long gone.
I live on a site that was originally used by a prefab estate that was erected to accommodate the Supermarine Spitfire workers who were displaced by the blitz on Southampton and were working at Hursley House nearby.
Although I never lived in a prefab I can remember being impressed by the standard of accommodation they offered.
