  • We had the freedom to go wherever you liked, over the six fields, which took you all the way via Jacobs ladder to West Ealing. The River Brent across the Ruislip Road, loads of trees to climb, we thought it was a great place.. Those prefabs were really quite large, and certainly well equipped, lovely big gardens, front and back. We used to walk up to Castlebar Halt station (now Castlebar Park) over the bridge and into Templeman Road to our nans in Westcott Crescent.

  • I lived the first 12 years of my life in a prefab at Weston near Southampton. Best years and best house as far as I was concerned.
    My surname then was Hibberd!
I really loved living there and never wanted to leave. Gardens back and front and large enough to have chickens, rabbits, ducks etc. also got my love of gardening below my Dad for a young age. Wonderful memories.
