I was born in a prefab in December 1946 at 31 Lorton Road Gravesend. Kent. My parents said it was one of the coldest winters on record. I loved growing up there with my 2 sisters. We were eventually rehoused by the council to St Gregory’s Crescent. My mother hated it. We eventually moved to Stone to be near my
father’s work at the local cement factory. He was a lorry driver for Blue Circle cement. I have many lovely memories of Lorton Road.
